JCM promote the use climate-resilient agricultural practices such as conservation farming and use of organic fertilizer to sustainably improve the food security including nutrition sensitive crop such as biofortified orange maize and orange sweet potatoes. At the centre of this is skills development of target group in production and management of small livestock and nutritious/cash crops with linkages to markets. The Self-help Group (SHG) Concept is another key approach used to empower and improve the livelihood of vulnerable population especially women through village savings groups, expansion of income generating activities, capacity building in entrepreneurship skills and mentorship, and building of linkages with the private sector.
